The Association of Hong Kong Nursing Staff (AHKNS), established in 1977, was formerly known as the Government Nursing Staff Association. It was renamed the Hong Kong Enrolled Nurses Association in 1990 and then became AHKNS in 2007. AHKNS is a nurses' union formed voluntarily by nurses and registered under the Trade Unions Ordinance of the Hong Kong Government, operating independently of any institution.
